Chase Freedom 2nd Quarter 5% Categories
Today, Chase Freedom revealed the rotating categories for the second quarter of 2023 for Freedom and Freedom Flex cardmembers. These are categories where you can earn 5% cash back, and if maximized can bring in $300 annually. Let’s see how these bonus categories work.
How It Works
Starting April 1 through June 30, 2023, Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex cardmembers can earn 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases on the following:
- Amazon: You can earn cash back for all your online purchases at Amazon.com.
- Lowe’s: Earn cash back for your home remodeling purchases online and in-store.
You can activate the new categories here, starting tomorrow. Must activate by June 14, 2023.
New cardmembers approved for a Chase Freedom Unlimited or Freedom Flex credit card can also earn up to $800 in cashback: $200 after spending $500 on purchases during the first 3 months from account opening, plus up to $600 by earning 5% cash back on grocery store purchases (not including Target or Walmart) on up to $12,000 spent in the first year.
In addition to the rotating quarterly categories and new cardmember offers, Freedom Flex cardmembers also earn 5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase’s Ultimate Rewards, 3% cash back on dining and drugstores, and 1% cash back on all other purchases. Freedom Flex cardmembers also receive World Elite Mastercard Benefits, including cell phone protection and discounts with Lyft, Boxed, Shoprunner, and more.
Chase Freedom’s 2nd quarter bonus categories are useful, but not the best options. Amazon is a popular merchant, but many people can already earn 5X on those purchases. Lowe’s on the other hand can be a useful option since they sell many gift cards.
Don’t forget to activate the 2nd Quarter bonus categories first, before you make any qualifying purchases, or you won’t earn the bonus cash.
